Print & Save-As broken on 10.1.5
Today I tried several times to Print from various applications.
Every time, the application "quit unexpectedly." This was
Opera, TextEdit, MS Word, Camino, Internet Explorer, etc.
I tried to cut-n-paste text into some of them, and "Save As"
only to have each of those quit.
Save As kills the App _after_ I OK the directory/filename widget.
Print kills the App instantly, without bringing up the
Preview/OK/Cancel widget.
I ran Repair Permissions, and now Save As works, but Print
is unchanged.
I ran update_prebinding next. Didn't expect it to
make a difference, and it didn't.
Rebooting has not fixed it either.
Worked OK yesterday.
Norton AV scrubs the disk daily.
Any ideas?

Re: Print & Save-As broken on 10.1.5
I've had very few problems with Norton AV (AntiVirus)> Dump Norton - it's crap. I'm never had anything but problems with
> Norton stuff on OS X.
The only problem is that it crashes if an archive is so big that
there's insufficient disk space for a temporary unpacking.
But that's only when I try to run it interactively.
When no one is logged in, it runs from the scheduler
in the we hours just fine.
I only through that in to avoid suggestions
of a virus. The Print service worked one day
and not the next, and nothing was downloaded
in between.
Save As apparently was fixed by Repair Permissions
(although I did not change any permissions or do
anything that could have changed them when it broke!)
Now my son tells me that AppleWorks will crash when
he opens an old file or does certain functions on
a new file.
That was working a week ago.
I guess, if no one has a better idea, I'll download
and re-run the 10.1.5 combo update (sigh, no phone
for a couple of hours.....)
Will a 10.0.3 CD and a 10.1.0 update CD re-install
ALL software (even if later versions already present)
without disturbing user accounts and Pref files?
