    Default Print Preview Degradation

I must be doing something wrong and can't figure out what it is. I'm using IDCS and PSCS. I prepared a photo in PSCS, converted to grayscale and have a nice snappy BW image in PSCS. I placed it in IDCS. When I click on Print Preview, the image goes flat as a pancake. When I print it, the image is indeed flat. What in the #**^&% and I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    Joe,

There is no Print Preview to click on. What really are you clicking on?

With InDesign and Photoshop, you need to turn on color management to the same settings in both programs in order to see the same color onscreen. If you are clicking on "Overprint Preview" from the View menu, then the screen is trying to mimic the effect of partial translucency of printed inks.

More than this, you need to have a monitor calibrated before you can say that the color is snappy in Photoshop, or in any other software, for that matter.

InDesign tries to show black ink differently onscreen from a rich black, a feature that some find disconcerting.

    Mike:
You are aboslutely right about print preview. (That's an operator headspace problem). My monitor is a calibrated LaCie 19 Blue IV. And I am laboring under the delusion that I have both programs set up with the profile. I was unaware of the black ink difference in INDD.
If you have other suggestions, I'm open and appreciate your response.
    Thanks!
