I have experienced the same thing. I installed the Apple update a few days ago but about 2 hours ago all methods for creating PDF documents using Acrobat 7 stopped working. The Acrobat print option still appears in the selection box but the printer does not work. When I try and use the PDF maker in word it says it cant find the printer. I have tried the repair command in Acrobat 7, have uninstalled and installed the program 3 times and run diskwarrier on my disk. Nothing seems to work.

This program has just become absolutely worthless to me. would apprecate any assistance.

I am sorry that you all are having problems under 10.3.9. I have no
problem printing to pdf in this situation. There is nothing inherently
wrong with this combination. I suggest fixing permissions, removing all
traces of acrobat and re-installing and running the usual unix cron jobs
with a utility like MacJanitor. If that doesn't fix things, then we can
try to see if you have installed anything that might contribute to the
problems---virus protection, haxies, etc.

Mike: Thanks for the suggestion. I am not really sure if this is related to 10.3.9 or not. The only other program I installed recently were drivers for a epson scanner. I am now running Mac Janitor and will remove all acrobat files, reinstall and see what happens.

Thanks for all the input. Since posting this, it has become even more frustrating. If I turn the printer off and back on, it will print one copy and then no more. It acts as if this printer is not supported. I have checked with HP (HP color laserjet 1500) and no fixes are available. I have since started printing to my network printer and it is working fine. It is only the direct connect printer. I cannot get through to apple to discuss. Anyone figure it out?

Brian, Just curious if you've tried removing the printer in Print Utility then reinstalling it?

The rest are talking about PDF printers rather than a physical printer.

After running MacJanitor I am now able to use the Acrobat 7 pdf print feature but it does not ask me where to save it, it just puts the pdf on the desktop without asking. Go figure. It is crippled but it works!

I had the problem as well ... the only "printing" I could do was to make a PostScript file. To fix it I had to:
- Use Printer Setup Repair (www.fixamac.com) to clean all cache and plist file
- Delete most printers (I had about 15, knocked it down to about four)
- Run everything Macaroni, MacJanitor, and Onyx had to offer

Hi Brian,

My company have just upgraded to OSX10.3 and on installing all the programmes acrobat 7.0 PDF writer was fine. But since updating it to OS10.3.9 it will only print from certain PDF default options, i.e. print quality or press quality. The other defualt options for making PDF's go to print but the printer utility stops the print job half way through!

As a company it's essential for me to send a PDF to clients for approval.

I remember that error from the distant past, but a search of the forums
and knowledge base did not turn anything up. You might try to upgrade
your acrobat version to the latest. 6.0.1 was updated to 6.0.3

I deleted the printer from the Printer List. Then, in Acrobat 7.0, I went to Help-->Detect and Repair. This fixed everything. I'm running 10.3.8.

The problem I'm having is this. I use Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to design. Everything looks and print as I want in all three programs, but when I print the same file from Acrobat, It comes out wayyyyyy darker. i've checked print settings and Distiller settings, still the same. Any answers to my problem?

Default Re: Print Problems

I have just reported a bug to Adobe regarding printing from Acrobat 7.0.1 Pro. The Mac is currently at Mac OS 10.3.9, 4.5 GB Memory. The Printer is an HP Office Jet V40 attached to a Windows Box. I am running the latest HP Drivers. The problem I observe is that I only print one page of a multipage document. This occurs if the "All Pages" is selected OR if the "From" button is selected. If the "From" button is selected, I get the first page I have chosen; but ONLY the first page. I get the same results even if the Page Slider is all the way to the right.

BTW, I do not understand the purpose of this slider! It seems completely counter intuitive.

If I print a multipage document from Word (for Mac) OR from Mac "Preview", I get the correct behavior - All the pages selected are printed! This tells me that this is an Acrobat problem not an HP (for Mac) Print Driver problem.

OS 10.4.1
Acrobat 6.0.3
HP Officejet 7410 aio
Photoshop CS 8.0

Was having trouble printing from all adobe products. Aligned the paper option in InDesign and Photoshop and it finally printed. Still can't get Acrobat 6.0.3 to print. Same page will print from Acrobat 5.0.

In Acrobat 6.0.3 page does que up, but then stops. Cleaned out preferences in library, system preferences... but still no luck.

Can't import scanner from Photoshop. Seems the programs are not talking to each other. Any suggestions.
