Default Print Problems FH MX MAC OSX

Hello,
testing MX (11.0.1) for the infographic-departement a newsmagazine, we found a lot of problems. So 90% of the documents can't be print out. We have been testing a lot of different Postscript-Printers with the same result. The problems occur, when we used raster effects like drop shadow and transparency. If I try to print out the document as postscript-print-file on the disc, I get an empty file. Often EPS from documents with raster effect objects are corrupt. Sometimes for example they "lost" certain objects. We loved Freehand up to version 9 but since that we have not been able to work professionally with any new version.

We also have a lot of printing-errors with CLC900 colorpass Z5000 and CLC1160 Colorpass Z400 printerset-up.

In this whole affair Apple, Canon and Macromedia all are to blame by poor support. Canon didn't come with any Mac OSX compatible driver-installer. Had to install old drivers and reconfigure them myself to have them working properly. In Panther it's even worse. Finally more then 3 (!!!) years after OSX first was launched Canon comes with a OSX 10.2 driver that... doesn't work for the full options so Hurray for Canon so far! Canon blames Apple of lack of support to design a good working driver. Professional customers aren't helped with bad software producers pointing fingers but just working sollutions we pay for!

The latest Canondrivers that don't work completely can be downloaded here:
http://ww2.canon-europe.com/support/driver_download/index.asp
Canon doesn't take ANY responsibility for the driver (that's the way for Canon to do buisness?) and claimes that only the most simple printercommands work. Read the manual carefully as they warn for certain inproper working options, like the 'Collate' option etc.

Freehand for shure is to blame too, as these print-errors mostly occur with Freehand (version 10, also the bugfree version 10.0.1, and even MX). One might just think about swapping the 21 Freehand licenses to Illustrator if no solution come sup soon...

A alternative could be to print to PDF and from PDF to the CLC's but Apple's PDF's often don't show complete pages. A very unpleasant error. Sent prints are on the loose and never reach the printer.

This is serious crap from Canon/Apple/Macromedia
