Print Resolution, Paper Quality - Illustrator CS, MAC Panther 10.3

Hello All,

I've just upgraded from Illustrator 10 to Illustrator CS and am having a tough time printing. I cannot find any options to adjust my paper quality and/or print resolution. I cannot find these abilities in Photoshop either. I can get my documents to print but they have poor resolution. I am printing to an Epson Color Stylus 3000 and have downloaded the latest driver for it. What am I missing?

I have been through all of the options in the ILL CS print dialog window and have even tried changing my printer settings in the printer setup utility.

I've been working in the computer art field for almost 7 years and (besides my first year in art school) I never thought I would say this- Can someone please tell me how to print, I can't figure it out?

I'm having the same problem with my Epson Stylus Color 980. I too have upgraded my drivers. I have all the resolution, paper quality etc. options in Photoshop and other apps but not with Illustrator.

We need to override the Illustrator print options. The question is...HOW??

Someone please advise ASAP!!!!!!!!!

This works on an Epson 3000 with a Postscript RIP. Might work with yours:

Open the Print menu. At the bottom of the print dialog box, click on the "Printer..." button. A dialog box appears. Click "Continue". The Epson print dialog box should appear. Select your printer.
Click on the drop-down list that shows "Copies & Pages" and select "Printer Features". This should show the settings that you are looking for. Clicking on the Print button will then take you back to Illustrator's Print dialog box. There, go to the Output settings and set your Printer Resolution.
Basically, clicking on the Printer button at bottom should (hopefully) get you to the settings that you're looking for.

Simple solution to your problem and yes you are overlooking a small detail in the AI CS dialogue there is a button at the bottom says printer that will bring you to the Epson Printer drivers where you can access the the paper and resolution in the option called printer settings.

Make sure when you select 1440 dpi or 740 or 2880 that High Speed is deslected!
Unchecked that will give you rather poor quality no matter what resolution you choose.
