    Default PRINT SIZE LIMITATION

I can't print any file which is bigger than 490mm wide.
The error I get says the limit is 490mm.
Has anyone come across this before.
Adobe support says there is no way around this problem,
but surely 490mm is not a big file???
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its a high end Image setter, but its not the printer that won't accept the size, it's the Indesign CS document.

What sizes does the PPD say the device supports? Have you tried using a different PPD?

I've tried running thru the same PPD I run all my Quark jobs on (DPX 5080ppd v4.2) which takes much bigger documents than that. Its a direct to plate image setter.

Although I don't have a system with InDesign 3.0.x installed, I did test printing up to 20" (508mm) x 30" (762mm) with InDesign 4.0.4 with no problems whatsoever!

As far as I know going back to the earliest releases of InDesign, if you can create a document of a particular size in InDesign, you can print it assuming that the PPD has all the correct information with regards to maximum page size and allowable range of custom page sizes.

I suspect that either (1) your PPD file does not fully conform to the PPD specification, (2) your PPD file does not reflect the reality of the physical device it represents, and/or (3) you are not properly filling in the print dialogue. In the latter case, in the setup pane of the print dialog, you really need to specify the page size to custom.
