printer problem: HP cp1700
I just installed a new HP CP1700. When I try to use the printer's properties dialog boxes to select print quality and paper type, my PC locks up. I'm using Windows 98. Previous HP printer had no problems at all.
Have no problem printing if I don't ever enter the properties dialog.
This problem does not occur with other software (MS Word, for example).
Am currently corresponding with HP help desk on this problem.
Any suggestions? I sure am getting tired of having to hit reset and going through scan-disk while I try to troubleshoot this.
Thanks,
Mary Foxworthy

Re: printer problem: HP cp1700
Thanks for your quick response, Dave.
I double checked to make sure I have the latest driver.
HP has disavowed this problem now and says it's a Photoshop issue. I've since tried to print with my down-rev version of Page Maker and it won't print at all. I'm now off to look for Adobe downloads that might help.

Re: printer problem: HP cp1700
I recall something about installing a post script driver from Adobe and setting that as the default printer. If Dave recalls it, maybe he can clarify, but that's what I'd hunt for next, if it were me.
