Cathie,
AI 11 offers creating, saving and etiting print presets. Lower versions do not.

BGH in the Edit> Print Presets you will have the Print Dialogue open set all the sections up the way you want such as media size, the chosen printer and ppd and the tiling and the separation method you want such as Host Based Separation etc. then there is a save button at the bottom of the print dialog give it a name then do this again with different settings for other types of jobs and hit save for each set up giving it a name.
next time you open up or create a project you simply select from the pull down menu the preset you want.
It works right?
