How do you print a single 45x33 Adobe Acrobat page on an 8.5x11 printer using multiple pages for legibility?

It may vary with the application your using to view the PDF, so look up tiling or tile in the Help File. In Full Acrobat 5.05 it's in File>Print then use the Advance button in the Print dialog box. I can't find the option in Reader 6.01. In Acrobat Pro 6.01 the option is in the Page scaling drop down box "Tile large pages".

"Have 6.0.05" of what Reader, Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Pro. Whatever the answer, there's a free upgrade to 6.01 available on the downloads page. 6.01 adresses many issues in each of the three possible applications you may have. I strongly recomend upgrade to 6.01 (I think you'll need your original CD or installer for Standard and Pro upgrades.)

From your reply I guess you've got Reader, other wise you'd have found the tiling solution already. If you still have difficulties, and it really is Reader you've got, you might want to consider posting in the forum specializing in Reader issues. You'll find it here:
