    Default Printing a PDF File

We are having trouble printing some pdf files. On some occaions turning the Print as Image option on solves the problem. However, this morning we had a pdf file that this did not help on a particuar printer. We have an HP 5si and an HP 8100. The file would print on the 5si with Print as Image turned on but only a small portion of the image would print on the 8100. Also the printing process is very, very slow. Any suggestions are welcome.

Default Re: Printing a PDF File

SOme more details are needed if you have any chance of an answer,

What version of Acrobat are you using?
What operating system are you using?
Are you using the very latest driver - is it PCL os PostScript?
How was the PDF created - it looks fine on screen?
How exactly is the PDF not printing correctly - this seems to be an ongoing problem you have?
Is it a network or local printer?

Just a few questions whose answers might bring an answer closer...

Default Re: Printing a PDF File

I am using version 5.0 with Win2000 and XP. Not sure about the printer driver on the 5si but the 8100 is PCL 6. The PDF file was created using the Distiller which looks fine on the screen. Only approx 3.5 inches of the left side of the 17 x 11 paper is printing. The rest of the page is blank. This is a network printer. One important thing is only a few pdf files have this problem. Other pdf files print just fine.

Default Re: Printing a PDF File

Make sure you are using Acrobat 5.0.5.

So, concentrating on the PDFs that have the problem, what do they have in common? Do they come from the same source, same paper size?

If you print the PDF to the Acrobat Distiller to create a new PDF does it print correctly?

Does the page size of the PDF show as A3 on screen in Acrobat?
Are you trying to print to A3 by scaling up an A4 or Letter?
