    Default Printing center book chart

I use Indesign 2.02 printed on a Canon ImageRunner 550 with a saddle stitch booklet option.

Here's what I'm doing. I'm setting up a booklet with Indesign. It 44 pages, with a chart in the center. The chart goes across pages 22 & 23. However, when I print, the middle of the chart is cut out. I need to know how to make it print. I can remove the center gutter from the printing options, but even though it prints in the center, is still cuts off the same information as if I leave the gutter alone ...

Okay, this makes little sence, but if you have any ideas, I really need to know. There is a board meeting next Tuesday, and I need to have this printed by then..

    Thanks.

I don't know this printer or its capabilites, so I'm only speculating . . .

If your book is 8 1/2 x 11 pages, does the printer do 11 x 17 sheets? Most laser or inkjet printers can't print to the edge of the paper, so if you're printing to an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet, you're going to lose maybe 1/4" in the gutter, no matter how you set the print options.

ID can print a spread (print dialog options) of 2 pages, or you could set up your 22-23 spread as a separate job and then collate with the rest of the pages if you're only doing copies for a board meeting, which I would guess would be less than 50 copies . . .

Anyway, I'm thinking the key is to be able to print the spread to a single sheet.

Well, it's printing a booklet (5.5 x 8.5). Basically, two pages per side of an 8.5x11 sheet.

I was, actually, aware of the fact that there is a gutter, no matter what. However, in the center of the book, it makes it so that there is a gutter, even though it's one sheet .. I'm pretty sure that it's ID2 doing this .. but I'm not sure how I can change that setting so that it will print everything in the "gutter area". I can get it so that it will move the "printable area" into the center, but it still cuts out the information in the "print area".

Sadly, when I'm doing a saddle stitch booklet, I can only chose the cover, the front page, and then everything else as far as different paper ...

Thanks for the help, if you have anything else, please let me know!

Did you set up the pages as individual 5.5x8.5, and have you made it into a booklet with a plugin? If so, the plugin for 2.0 that I had used made the pages 8.5x11, so there was no gutter. If you still have them as 5.5x8.5 pages, I would do that. Then you have the other pages in order also. If that is more work than you want to do for this, then do one of Alan's suggestions:
Open a new doc., 8.5x11, and copy and paste pages 22 & 23 on it as you want it to print. Now you don't have to worry about a gutter.
I'm a little confused as to how you set up your document, but I hope this is helpful to you.

Yes, the pages are 5.5x8.5 ... and I didn't make it into a booklet via a plug in. I just printed the book as a booklet with the printer .. saddle stiched it and whatnot.

How, may I ask and sound stupid, do I use the plug that comes with ID2? I did a search, and couldn't find anything pertaining to using the installed plugs.

Thanks for pointing me in a better direction.
