    Default Printing large documents

Using Windows XP and InDesign CS, I'm printing to an Epson 7600 with roll paper. I'm having trouble printing anything larger than 24 inches. I'm using the Epson 7600 print driver, but the image always cuts off at 24 inches. It will preview that way also. Is there a size limitation in the bundled Creative Suite? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ( I can print any size from Photoshop CS. So far that is my workaround. Save as eps and then rasterize in Photoshop!)

    Default Re: Printing large documents

I had a problem with the Epson 7600 with roll paper too, except I got it to print all the way to 48". My document is 60" long so that doesn't help much. It cuts off at 48" whether printing the PDF or the native INDD file, so I think it's a printer memory limitation.

24" IS the upper limit for width, so make sure your document is turned right. In the Epson print setup under Properties, Paper tab, under Paper Size choose User Defined and you will get the dialog. I set my width to 2400 and my height to 6000. Then set orientation to Landscape.

My preview did show correctly. The fact that yours doesn't makes me think it is a problem with the Print Setup.

    Hope this helps.

Are you able to print to PDF successfully?

If so, why not print from Acrobat?

Thanks for the input on this question. I havent tried the pdf route yet, but it's worth a try.
If it prints right though, what does that tell me?

Thanks for your reply to this question. I'm pretty sure that my setups are okay, but you're right it's worth checking. My orientation is correct I know because it's printing 24 wide by 31 high. I'm using the full width of the roll paper.
It may in fact be memory related though and thanks for some fresh input.

Well no, but I worked around it and got the project out. I still seem to have this limitation in InDesign CS. The orientation is right. The paper size is right, but somehow it always comes down to Operator Error in the end. This isn't my system. It belongs to an associate so I don't have full time access. I'll be looking into it this week fully. Either way I'll post the results. Thanks Gabriel!
