Printing only text?
If you have a brochure with illustrations and text, is it possible to print only the text? I've been working on a brochure in PageMaker, but we've been thinking of switching to InDesign. Some co-workers are wondering if it's possible to print only the text in InDesign (don't think it's possible in PM).
TIA,
Jen

Re: Printing only text?
It's possible in both, as I've already pointed out in the PM forum.
Easiest way is to have text on its own layer and turn the other layers off.

Re: Printing only text?
If there are not many illustrations in your brochure, you can assign them attribute "Nonprinting" (select illustration and Window > Attributes > Nonprinting) and print only text.
Then, when you need to print your brochure WHITH illustrations, select "Print Non-printing Objects" in "Print > General > Options" and enjoy.

Re: Printing only text?
Or how about in the print dialogue you select under graphics, Send data
*none*.
Then you'll get only text and no graphics, won't you? No need to switch
layers off or on.

Yes, you are right. But if there are "native" InDesign illustrations (rectangles, ovals and so on) in brochure they will be print "as is".
