Default Printing Oversized pages and keeping trim marks

    Hi!

I have a problem here that I can't seem to find an answer to. I am creating rather large documents on Quark 6.5 for templates that our salespeople can print out on an 11 x 17" printer. However, some of the pieces are a bit larger than that. So, what I have done so far is to create them in Quark keeping at least one side of the document at 11". Then I have exported them as PDF's. Now I can break them down pagewise using tile imageable area in Acrobat, but what I am looking for is to get trim marks to print where the page break comes in so that the salespeople have some kind of guide as to where to cut and assemble the pages. I have even gone so far as to open the pdf in Illustrator, breaking down the pages and getting the trim marks. But, alas, when I go to print the trim marks don't print.

Does anyone have any kind of an idea how do to this? I need to get this project done by the end of the week and it is driving me crazy!

Thanks a lot for any help you can send my way!

Default Re: Printing Oversized pages and keeping trim marks

Mary, Best practice is to print your Quark files to postscript (.ps) then use distiller to make your PDF.
I would suggest you keep all of your Quark documents at 11x17, no bleed, and allow 1/4" margins all around. Use math to figure your tiling, add crop marks in quark, to keep the printing simple.
Also consider sending out the oversize printing to a print shop, do you really want your sales people showing taped-up lasers to potential customers?
