Printing question OS9

Going back to OS9 to print with Epson printers. Everything is going ok except that when printing on 8x10 sheet paper it wont let me make the height greater than7.5"

Message comes up says:"number between 1.000 and 7.500 is required"

I have printed many times at heights of 8.5 and 9" on 8x10 paper, in past in OS 9, guess can't remember what I did right.

In page set up I selected 8x10, and auto sheet feeder. I also chose centered and maximum area.

Another odd thing, maybe don't remember it from being on OS 10 so long, is it takes long time for image to open -- like 25-30 seconds -- while "reads photoshop format" normal?

Which Epson printer?

What is the actual size of the image in pixels?

The speed of opening a file depends mostly on the drive and, of course, the size of the image.

Did not check borderless becasue I'm printing with white borders all around. About 3/4" on sides more or less.

I don't think I'm getting this message in OS10.

The image opens in 25 seconds in OS9 and 4 seconds in OS10

Something doesn't add up. Actually, a lot of things don't. :)

Your document (3507 pixels x4896 pixels) measures 0.877" by 1.224". That makes its resolution 4000ppi. Without altering the image (i. e. no resampling), you could have an image that is 11.69" by 8.16" at 600dpi.

You are trying to squeeze all those pixels into a 6.5" x 8.5" printable area (which is what you are left on an 8x10 sheet after your 3/4" border all around) and that doesn't even take into account the margins that the printer driver needs since you are not checking borderless. That means that your 3507 pixels in one dimension would have to print at 539.54 ppi to fit into the 6.5" dimension, and, consequently, the other dimension would have to be 9.07" and it therefore will not fit onto your printable area.

It sounds like that's what the printer drives is trying to tell you.

25 seconds is not to long for an image of that size to open. Opening files is supposed to be faster in OS X.

Yes Ramon!
The resolution at 4000 (direct from the Nikon 4000). My guess: I forgot to reduce it to 240 and that's whats causing this headache. I'll test it.
