Problem on locating 2nd harddrive on existing Linux OS - Linux Setup, Configuration & Administration

Hi! I need some help and guidance to make my harddrive available to the existing partition and i'm currently having problem. My machine is running on RAID5 and based on the info given on BIOS, the hardware manage to identify the new available harddrive. Now... the problem I'm facing is that the OS can't locate the new harddrive, how would this be solve? And once its solve... i need to have the new harddrive merge to the existing /var or /home ... any idea on how to make it happen?...
