problem printing Ill 10 file to laser printer in Panther

I have an Ill 10 file that prints from Ill 10 to my HPLaserJet 2200 perfectly when in OS9.2.
In Panther, a new file that I just completed prints perfectly to the laser jet, but the older file gets spewed out as several sheets of what I would call code. I notice that in Panther, the ASCII option is grayed out in the print dialog window. I've used that option before when a problem like this came up, but I can't select that now.

I saved the file as a PDF, and opened it in Acrobat and printed from that with good results, but that's clearly not the way it should be done. I also tried flattening the file, that didn't have any effect.

Any suggestions?

I haven't received any solutions to my printing problem, but I solved it myself by upgrading Illustrator 10 to 10.0.3, which corrects printing problems.
