Problem printing with CS
Hi All - I am very frustrated at the moment. I am currently working on a G4 with plenty of ram and hard drive space, running jaguar and on a network (all other computers are jaguar as well).
My problem is that for some reason, some files will not print with either an embedded image or linked image. As soon as the image is deleted, it will print. I know you're think "well there is something wrong with the image..." the stinkin' file prints fine in illustrator 10.
I've tried everything. Embedding the image, rasterizing, relinking, resaving the image in photoshop in numerous ways. I'm at my wits end. I work at an ad agency and we just don't have time to be putzing around with this sort of crap.
Anyone have a solution? Please!
Thanks,
Elisa

Re: Problem printing with CS
i've had a similar problem, with both illustrator 10 and CS. any time it's happened, i just save as illustrator 8 and print it from there, no problem.
the error messages vary, but usually it's an out of memory/postscript error. judging from the fact that it prints fine in ill8, it must be an ill10/CS thing, but then it's only a problem with specific documents. could also be a printer thing i guess (i'm printing to an HP 4550N).
had one stubborn document today (embedded bitmap), no amount of restarting and reinstalling would help. prints fine in ill8. in general i've had tons of problems with ill10, and therefore kept the stalwart ill8 on my HD. seems to be running great in osx / classic mode as well.
just upgraded to CS (and simultaneously switched over to OSX) about a week ago, and it's been "fun".

Just for kicks, are you scaling the image from page setup?

Re: Problem printing with CS
Do you know if the images are Binary or ASCII?

Re: Problem printing with CS
The images are tif or jpg. I have saved them as eps. the binary won't print but the ascii will but I get the message that it may not print right. I don't want to send the file out to a pub if I get that message since they may have the same problem.
Regarding scaling the image in page setup... no I am not.
