    Default Problem saving WP and Lotus docs as PDF's in Acrobat 5

    Opertating system: Windows XP on a Dell GX260 PC, Adobe Acrobat 5.0 writer and distiller, using Word Perfect and Lotus to convert and save to pdf files, no error messages received.

    You open the WP or Lotus file and than go to convert and save as a pdf. Rather than saving it, it prints to the printer which is a HP 8000DN. However, if you convert and save only one page of the document this works properly. This same thing happens to everyone using this printer. Don't know if there's any relationship, but wondered if anyone has had a similar occurance and what may be causing this issue.

    1. Make sure you are using Acrobat 5.0.5 which is the first version to be compatible with WinXP.

    2. As far as I can make out Acrobat is playing no part attempted conversion to PDF.

    3. From Lotus or WP

    File > Print > [select] Acrobat Ditiller

    You will be promted for a filename and bingo - there is your PDF. You may also find a PDFWriter printer installed - do not use this as it produces fairly poor results compared to the Acrobat Distiller printer.

    I was not aware Acrobat 5.0 wasn't compatible for use in XP. Can you tell me where I might find some documentation regarding this information?

    Here is the 5.05 update:

    <http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=1309>

    It lists Windows XP as a supported OS. I don't know how to prove that 5.0 wasn't supported in XP, but none of the earlier 5.0 updates (like the Make Accessible Plugin) list XP as a viable OS.

    After updating with that patch, you should also apply this one:
