Also experienced this problem, especially with SSL (https) and PDF or MS Office
doents. Unfortunately, it is an IE problem. Haven't had the problem with
Netscape or Firefox.

If you're using SSL, checkout the following articles from Microsoft to help
resolve this issue:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316431/
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812935/
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323308/

I resolved the issue by writing the doent to the server and providing a
link to the doent. But then the user has to click an extra button. If you
still want it to automatically download, I used javascript to automatically
submit a form with the action attribute pointed to the doent.

I have facing similar problem when sending the output data to excel sheet over
https.

is there any workaround for this issue, here is the code Iam using to send it
to excel...
<cfcontent
type="application/vnd.ms-excel">
<cfoutput query="ReportDataOut">#evaluate(DE(ReportDataOut.C olumnA))#
</cfoutput>

if I want to create the excel file directly on the server using the output
from above and use that link, how do i do that?

help urgently needed and appreciated...

You would need to create your doent and then use the <cffile> tag to write
the data to the server. After which you can provide a link to that excel file.
The <cfcontent> tag returns the actual file without necessarily saving the file
to the server.
