Problem with Address Book - Mac Applications & Software

OS X Address Book has just started to act strange. The app takes 15 minutes to react to any request, and ALL 300 entries now appear in the last column only -- with all phone numbers, then all addresses, then all names.... Is the application corrupted? I have 300 entries in this program ... will all be lost if I reinstall from the OS X installation disk? I've done a google and newsgroup search and this appears to be unique - definitely not covered in the Apple Support website (and I am now 6 days past my 90 days support...) ...

Okay - I can refine my problem now. In the second column there appears a
blank address card. The third column appears to contain ALL the entries
compiled into the one address card. That is why it takes soooooo long to
react -- it is one address card that has 300 phone numbers, 300 address
    etc....

Can I export this one card somehow and reimport the data to the proper
format? Maybe I could 'print' to a tab-delineated text file, but then
how do I reimport the data?

Have you tried "export vcard" with this address selected in Address
Book? That will create a text file with .vcf extension. You can edit
that with a text editor, and possibly reimport it.
