    Default problem with keyboard characters

    Hello again;

In addition to my previous post about the airport extreme issues, I've found
that the keyboard on my new powerbook G4 has an extremely irritating
quirk -- when I press the backslash (/) (\) keys or attempt to use the
colon/semi colon and/or quotation mark keys, I get what look like French
letters instead: É é.... Is this a problem with the keyboard settings? All
of the other keys appear to work fine. Any suggestions would be greatly
    appreciated.

Yes. You probably have the Canadian keyboard layout selected. If you
don't like that keyboard arrangement, then use the keyboard menu to
choose the input language you prefer. If you don't see a keyboard menu,
make one by changing the Input Menu settings in the International pref
    pane. m.

Sounds like you have somehow managed to change the default keyboard
layout in the International/Input Menu preference pane. Do you see any
national flag on the menu bar (should be right to the "help" menu)? If
you do, it's the flag of the country that uses this particular keyboard
layout. I bet a fiver on the Canadian maple leaf, as they use accents
instead of slash and backslash. Anywyay, if it's not the maple leaf,
selecting the flag with your mouse pointer you can read the name of this
country :-) and switch back to US or British or whatever you prefer.
Otherwise, open the aforementioned preference pane in System Preferences
    and see what is selected.
