Problems creating PDF
I have a pdf that will not export. I have narrowed it down to a headline that I created in illustrator and placed in the indesign document. It is a curved headline. I've tried re-saving it and replacing it. I've tried various other things but still can only get the document to export if I remove this particular headline. Any suggestions? Thanks. Audrey

Re: Problems creating PDF
In Illustrator convert the headline to outlines (Select All / Convert to outlines) and Save As a different file name.
Replace the file in Indesign with this new one and print. Should have no problems then.

Re: Problems creating PDF
Audrey,
Without more detail about what's been tried and the results, I could only guess why that headline is causing a problem at output.
If you haven't tried this yet, go back to your Illustrator file, select the headline, (which I'm assuming is text on a path or in an envelope), and convert it to outlines, (Ctrl+Shift+O). Now copy and paste in InDesign. There should be no problem at output with the resulting pasted group of vector shapes.

Re: Problems creating PDF
Before you copy and paste, make sure you're Illustrator prefs are set to
AICB with preserve paths selected.

Re: Problems creating PDF
Thank you so much for your advice. I did try converting the headline to outlines and still cannot export to a pdf document. Once again, if I remove this particular headline the document exports just fine. If you have any more suggestions please let me know, I like the layout and don't want to change it if I can work out this one problem. Audrey

Re: Problems creating PDF
I've been working with the page, tried layering the headline and grouping and various other things just out of desperation. I noticed that if I just moved the headline away from the graphic and photo that it overlaps that the pdf would export. I had problems once before with a pdf not exporting when I had the headline overlapping a photo (I just re-designed that page). Is there an issue with overlapping headlines? Can you help me figure out how to preserve my current layout and get the pdf to export? Thank you.

Re: Problems creating PDF
What if you PDF or EPS the AI file, place that into ID then try exporting. Does that work?

Re: Problems creating PDF
YES! That worked but I can't figure out how to get the background of the pdf transparent so that the white box behind the headline isn't blocking out my photo. Can you help. Thanks! Audrey
