Problems importing HTML into Dreamweaver on Mac OSX

I am using Dreamweaver 6.1 on Mac OSX.

I tried importing an html file that was created in MS Word. When I open the file in Dreamweaver, all the appostrophe's and quotation marks are being replaced with a letter O with a tilde (~) over it. I can't figure out what the problem is. If I open the HTML file in a browser, it looks fine. It also imports correctly into Dreamweaver on a PC. Any idea what could be going on? I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Where do I find a copy of this? I need something that will do a decent job of turning a Word document into HTML.
