Default Problems putting text inside a path

Maybe my brain is stuck on low gear today, but I'm trying to put text inside a path created by a font character and can't get it to work.

If I draw my own path, it works fine. But it doesn't work when I try to create the path by typing a character in a large font, and then using TYPE->CREATE OUTLINES to turn it into a path. The 'area type tool' tells me: "You must click on a non-compound, non-masking path to create text inside the path."

    What am I doing wrong?

Default Re: Problems putting text inside a path

Umm, never mind. I guess my brain *is* stuck in low today. I finally jammed it into second gear and remembered the Object->Compound Path->Release command.

As Gilda Radner used to day, "...never mind."
