Problems with brightness/contrast of docs scanned into Acrobat
I use Acrobat Standard with a MicroTek Scanmaker 5950 scanner. The images I get in Acrobat aren't dark enough. How can I adjust brightness? Is there a way to do that in Acrobat itself? When I do multi-page documents, sometimes it'll start off making sharp images but then the messages get washed out after the first couple scans. What gives?
When I scan, it utilizes MicroTek Scanwizard 5.0 to make the scan which is then fed into Acrobat. Is this the way the system should work? Or does Acrobat have its own scanning software to work with any scanner.

Re: Problems with brightness/contrast of docs scanned into Acrobat
The scan settings are generally a property of the scanner. Try checking to see if there are default settings for the scanner (in the scanner software or setup, not Acrobat).

I tried that. MicroTek's Scanwizard software is very basic, though. It lacks any "brightness" control too.
Is there any Scanner Software I could buy that would go beyond the capabilities of the mediocre software that came with the scanner? Any software that particularly works well with Acrobat?

Re: Problems with brightness/contrast of docs scanned into Acrobat
Scanners are cheap enough so rather then spending money on new software, maybe consider getting a new scanner.
I know I've had good luck with HP scanners.

Re: Problems with brightness/contrast of docs scanned into Acrobat
Actually, this is a new scanner! It's capable of good resolution. I think it's the case with most computer-related hardware that the software which comes bundled with it isn't the best...usually stunted versions of expensive full-version software. So the question is, what full-version software do I need? I just forked over money for Acrobat Standard. What do I now need to get Acrobat to work effectively with my scanner?

Don't scan to Acrobat. Scan to TIFF files, make adjustments, then
convert to PDF.

Re: Problems with brightness/contrast of docs scanned into Acrobat
The age of the scanner doesn't really matter; if the drivers don't give you brightness/contrast options, it's not much use, is it?
Acrobat doesn't have brightness/contrast controls of any kind, but Photoshop does. If you scan to TIFF files, you can then adjust levels in Photoshop and then either save directly to PDF or bring the adjusted TIFF into Acrobat.

I found that using Photoshop is the easiest way. Strange thet Acrobat does not have it.
