What about control of the grid lines? Can you turn them off or vary their line weight like in Excel?

Re: Problems with Excel Data-Import
Yes, you have full control over matters pertaining to *appearance.* The Window > Type and Tables > Table palette contains many controls. Redundantly, the Table menu leads to Table Options and Cell Options dialog boxes. Also redundantly repetitive is that many features of tables show up on the Control palette.

Re: Problems with Excel Data-Import
Yes, if you're talking about strokes between cells. Just use the Strokes palette in combination with the proxy it displays.

Re: Problems with Excel Data-Import
You can control the grid lines on all sides of a cell--either using the Table menu commands or the Stroke palette.

Re: Problems with Excel Data-Import
I am a convert from Pagemaker 6.5 to Indesign 3.0.
Pagemaker allowed for the placing of an Excel Object as a graphic. Is there any such feature in Indesign 3.0?

Re: Problems with Excel Data-Import
But it was an awful feature forced to be added my Microsoft for Windows
certification. The PM forum is full of requests for help for people who
used insert>object.
Thankfully that awful feature is gone. You've been protected from yourself.

Re: Problems with Excel Data-Import
To place Excel as a graphic (e.g., an Excel chart), create a PDF file in Excel, then File > Place in InDesign.
