Problems with kill -9 - UNIX Programming

Hi all, I am working in a HP-UX 11.00 and I have a problem with a process that I can´t kill with a signal SIGKILL. This process is multithread, and in certains conditions, the process start to use the 100% of the CPU and it doesn´t kill. When I send it the kill -9. The results of the "top" show me that the process is busy in the system part. I have tried to attach with the gdb without any result. Knows anybody what is happening? Default Problems with kill -9

    Hi all,

    I am working in a HP-UX 11.00 and I have a problem with a process that I can´t kill with a signal SIGKILL.
This process is multithread, and in certains conditions, the process start to use the 100% of the CPU and it doesn´t
kill. When I send it the kill -9.
The results of the "top" show me that the process is busy in the system part.
I have tried to attach with the gdb without any result.
Knows anybody what is happening? Can anybody give me some clue about the problem and how I can figure out?

    TIA.

    Jose.

It looks like it's getting stuck in some system call. Maybe strace
(or whatever it's called on HP-UX) can help find out which one. Is
the problem easily reproducible? Does it work on other systems?

The problem is difficult to reproduce. It shows in some occasions, I can´t prove in other systems
because is not possible to change the libs.
Now I´m gonna try to find out with the strace.
    Thanks.

    Jose.
