programatic CPU util - AIX

I am looking for the way to programaticly determine CPU utilization under AIX (5L would be sufficient) to add to netperf. On linux netperf uses /proc/stat, under Solaris it uses kstat, under HP-UX it uses pstat system calls. This needs to be -system-wide- CPU util, not process specific. Too much in networking is done outside the process' context and so not charged to it. Any pointers to docs describing similar things would be great. rick jones -- firebug n, the idiot who tosses a lit cigarette out his car window these opinions are mine, all mine; HP might not want ...

    Default programatic CPU util

A cohort of mine uncovered the perfstat interface. on the surface it
appears to be returning what I want, but I am a triffle concerned
about the units being ticks and perhaps being statistical - any info
on that score would be apreciated.

    happy benchmarking,
