Programmatically checking syntax of SQL - Microsoft SQL / MS SQL Server

Is there a way to programmatically check the syntax of a dynamically generated (or user entered) SQL statement from a client application? We are developing a web-based adhoc reporting app that will allow a user to manually enter a SQL statement and I want to check the syntax of what they enter before executing it. I've looked through the DMO reference but didn't see anything for this purpose....

you can use the ExecuteImmediate method with SQLDMOExec_NoExec as the
    ExecutionType.
