    Fill Type & Number of Fill Handles
    ===========================
    None = 0
    Solid = 0
    Web Dither = 0
    Pattern = 3
    ---------------------------
    Linear = 2
    Radial = 2
    Ellipse = 3
    Rectangle = 3
    Cone = 2
    Starburst = 3
    Bars = 2
    Ripples = 3
    Waves = 2
    Satin = 2
    Folds = 2

    If you don't select and object or you select one with 0 fill handles, The
    Fill Assistant will gripe and display the appropriate warning message.

    If you select a Fill Type with 2 fill handles, Start and Handle 1 are
    enabled.

    If you select a Fill Type with 3 fill handles, Start, Handle 1, and Handle 2
    are enabled.

    If you "Exclude" a handle, it is really just placed really close to one of
    the other ones when the command completes (so that it has little or no
    visual effect).

    A fill handle can be moved to 1 of 9 positions as displayed on the diagrams
    on the dialog. If that is not sufficient, you can apply offsets to those
    positions. This way you hav a bit more control over where the fill handles
    are finally positioned.

    That's pretty much the basics. I was seeing some erratic behavior by the
    extenstion. However I never really pursued it, as fill handles for the most
    part I like place myself. Perhaps I would feel different if the extension
    had an "Apply" button so I didn't spend so much time in the menubars (never
    got ambitious enough to devote a Shortcut key to it).

    Let me know if you need more info...

    I need to get some coffee/food (although at this point slow moving animals
    are fair game). My eyes are pixelating.

    Cheers,
    Sam

    The fill handles are for gradient fills, etc. Here's how I use the
    extension. If I want the fill handle to start exactly in the middle of the
    object and to end at say the lower right corner, then this extension, with
    zero for all the offsets, allows you to position the start and end
    locations. However, for custom placements, it is usually easier to set by
    hand. If you want exact placement for the corner, center, or edge of a side
    of an object, you can't beat it.
