Projector EXE asks for Shockwave Player

Default Projector EXE asks for Shockwave Player

I have created a stand alone Projector EXE with Director 8.5. While creating the Projector, I selected File->Create Projector->Options->Player - Compressed (i.e., not the Shockwave option) and deselected Media - Compress (Shockwave format). The main EXE is calling some other DCR files.

After writing to a CD, the EXE is running properly without any Shockwave player installed in Windows.

But after copy protecting the CD with a software called CD Protector, the EXE, when run, is giving the message 'Shockwave 8.5 player required. Download - OK, Cancel'.

The CD Protector writes some Phantom Tracks on the CD, modifies the original Projector EXE to a file named _cdp32.dat and adds its own EXE with the name of original Projector EXE. This new EXE checks for the track on the CD, if finds, calls the renamed Projector file.

This method works OK for other non-Director EXE files, e.g., Visual Basic etc. But apparently, for Director EXE, whenever the file is renamed and modified in some way (I don't exactly know what the CD Protector is actually writing to the _cdp32.dat file), it no longer works and asks for Shockwave Player.

Any solution to this problem would be helpful.

Default Re: Projector EXE asks for Shockwave Player

Try using the Shockwave player option. It simply means that you must copy the
..dll files from the folder where Director is installed into the projector's
    xtras folder.
