That's the way it should be. When you copy something, it goes on its own
layer. Next thing to do is to rearrange with the move tool (the arrow tool
in the toolbox, 1st row, to the right) and place them so that you can see
each and everyone. To do this, click on the layer palette the first picture
you'd like to change its position, (to make the layer active), then select
the move tool. You'll see a kind of box surrounding your image. Click and
hold inside that box and move the image arround the canvas (the canvas is
what's called your entire work).

Something so easy for those who know but a total mystery to the novice! Your instructions were perfect. I was able to move all pictures as needed.
