PS7 and PS Elements comparison - Photography

Can anyone tell me what the main differences are between, PS7 and Elements? I use photoshop for tweaking photgraphs with curves, histogram, colour correction etc.. I dont to layouts or anything erring to graphic design side. Are there any major tools missing from it? Is Elements a good trade-off for the price, or is there so much missing from it that its not worth the trouble?? thanks n.t...

Curves is missing from Elements, there is someone who does a plugin
replacement. I think the colour is only 8 bits/channel. Adobe did have a
trial version of Elements (100 Mb+), check their website.

There are a few major things missing in Elements:
    - Curves
    - Channels
    - 16 bit images (Elements only allows you to open 8 bit images)

There is a book called " The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2" that
has a CD with tools to do Curves and Channels in Elements. I have the
book and the tools do the job, although probably not a nicely as in
Photoshop (eg you can't edit the curves, just delete & redo). For more
info on this book, see http://www.hiddenelements.com/. I ordered the
book from Amazon.com and it came to about AUS$60 (it's about AUS$90 to
    buy locally).

While I've never used Photoshop (far too expensive) and I got Elements
2 free bundled with my camera, I'm pretty happy with Elements + Hidden
Power. I'm certainly not going to rush out and spend $1000+ on
    Photoshop.

    Hope this helps,
    Chris
