PSCS cannot open PS7 layered docs! Why not?

Am I wrong? I can't open layered files from PS7 in PSCS ... but I can open flattened files. Is there a workaround? ::wimper,wimper::

What happens when you try to open a layered file?

Yeah. I get: "Could not complete your request because of a program error" ... I thought maybe it was a memory glitch ... although I have 1.5G ... so I restarted but still same error.

You have software problems.

Try trashing your Photoshop preferences first, see it that helps. If it doesn't, quit Photoshop and delete prefs again, then run Repair Permissions (Apple's Disk Utility), then re-install Photoshop, and finally Repair Permissions again.

If none of the above helps, try running Disk Warrior and check your drive.

Glad it worked. This is the first thing to try when anything goes wrong in Photoshop.
