    Default psd-files with transparency

    hi.
    i have a question:
i would like to import a file with transparency to freehand. i thought saving
the file as psd-file would be a good way.
but the following problems occured, when i created a pdf-file (using Acrobat
    PDF-Maker):
    - first: the resolution of the psd-file was very bad in the pdf-file (but i
    set the resolution on 400dpi)
    - second: a line behind the psd-file (which has a transparency in it) is not
continous, it is moved for about 1 mm behind the transparency

what can i do to avoid these problems?

    thx

try to save your file not in pdf but in png, or eps and then import in FH MX (eps is not always ok in FH, depends on how the eps is saved).

It's likely that FH is only seeing and working with the 72 ppi PSD image
    preview.

Before exporting, FH will rasterize any transparency. Set File > Document
Settings > Raster Effects Setting to 400 ppi.

What you're seeing is the part of the line being rasterized under the image.
The part outside the image is not being rasterized.

I recommend you do the image transparency either:
    1. entirely in Photoshop and import to FH as flattened TIFF,
    or
    2. entirely in FH from vector objects, with Raster Effects Setting set to
    appropriate resolution.

Warning: FHMX raster effects are *RGB* raster effects. Everything is
rasterized as RGB -- not exactly ideal for CMYK work.
