This is a quick reply - but if you have IllustratorCS and place the .psd
file with layers - you can then export the PDF as 1.5 and maintain the
layers in Acrobat 6 Professional ....

Any layer(s) selected in Acrobat 6 Professional and then printed to PDF
(for instance) will be in the resultant PDF file.

In other words, the PDF from Illustrator contains Layers 1, 2 and 3 ...
you have chosen Layers 1 and 2 to view in Acrobat ...

Now when you print the PDF to the 'Adobe PDF' printer then only Layers 1
and 2 end up in the 'fresh' PDF file.

but i do i get from photoshop to pdf? i tried "placing" and opening in illustrator, and that brought all the layers in....fine....but now i nead each layer to ultimately print out on its own page....so therefore i would need each layer to become a page in acrobat......

tried printin to adf, and it just made one page of all the layers merged.......

What version of Photoshop do you have? I believe saving multiple layers to multiple files is a feature in PSCS.

I assume that means it does each layers within a set separately.

    Oh well. Worth a try.

You can only keep layers intact in a pdf from Illustrator by saving the ai file as a pdf (i think)

This is not (yet) possible from Photoshop.

So what Jon sugegsted was to bring the psd file into Illsutartor and save it as a 1.5 pdf with layers intact.

    from Illustrator.

save as pdf, make sure to set the pdf version to 1.5.

I must admit it's not something i've tried for myself.

Sorry for not getting back - but my idea (not tested just like De Siem)
    has mixed results.

InDesignCS is the most powerful application for allowing created layers
to be then honoured and displayed in a PDF 1.5 file.

[PhotoshopCS] .PSD files into Illustrator and then into Acrobat 6 is not
    too hot
[PhotoshopCS] .PDF files into Illustrator and then into Acrobat 6 is
    better - but not perfect

My advice was not perfect ;-) but it might be a good springboard to
    look towards the future ...

    Cheers,

    Jon

I think im just going to use psd to indesign by draggin and droppin layers....its going to be my best bet i think as well....

wasnt so much concerned with being a pdf as i was to have each layer print out in one file as a series of pages, rather than printing individual layers....

    thanks all for your help!!
