Publish PDF problems

I want my content publisher to be able to update a PDF (that she edits almost
weekly).

In C3 she can use the "Publish file from My Computer..." feature, however it
won't overwrite the existing PDF (which is what I want).

For example, the filename is: TCMA_app_status.pdf
but Contribute renames it: TCMA_app_status_000.pdf

Any suggestions?

Upgrade her to C3.1

It has an improvement which allows the user to overwrite a file which has the same name as the new one.

If you cant upgrade you will need to delete the file from your sever before you
can publish a new one with the same name.

Go to the View menu,

pick the "Choose File on Website."


Search through the folders to find the correct pdf.

Open it.

Now, Contribute will tell you you can't edit this file. Don't worry about that.

Go to the file menu.

Choose "Actions"

Choose the submenu selection "Delete Page." Don't worry that it is a PDF and
not technically a web page. That is what Contribute calls all PDFs and other
non-image documents that are not actual web pages.

Delete it.

Now go ahead and put your new PDF on the server.

She and I are both using C3.1

In 3.1, when you upload it, you get a popup box asking you if you want to overwrite the original file or change the name of the new one.
