Publishing for a CD - Macromedia Director Basics

Hi, I am just after creating a project that teaches children science. I wanted it to be on a CDROM. I have created a projector but I was wondering is there anyway of getting rid of the windows bar at the top. I just want the director movie to take up the whole screen. I hope somebody can help, thank you!...

When you create the projector, choose options after selecting the DIR file (right side) and choose "Full Screen"

.... or you can leave it in a window and turn off the title bar, but that won't necessarily play full screen.

Hi, thank you so much. I now have another problem. I built the package working on 1024x768 monitor resolution. I tried the Demension of browser option and setting it to percentage of browser and 100x100 but its not working. How do I get it to look the same no matter what resolution is being used or is this even possible? Thanks a million again!

First of all, if this is a projector (EXE) you don't use it in a browser, so the browser publishing settings do not apply.

Director projects do not automatically re-dimension like Flash projects do ... they are set window sizes.

If you set the projector to be built for FullScreen it will fill in the outside edges with your background colour, but the stage itself remains the same size.

If you built the application for 1024x768 then users of lesser resolutions will not be able to see all of it.

You can try using the RECT command(s) in an "On PrepareMovie" handler to resize your stage to fit the desktop, but it will usually look very poorly and will not reposition items.

The best thing to do is build it for 800x600 - lowest common denominator in today's world and then allow Fullscreen to fill in the edges on higher resolutions.

** You can build it for 640x480 if you want, but only about 1.2% of users are using that resolution anymore ... a number of the the new vid cards don't even list it as a resolution anymore and WinME+ defaulted to 800x600. (Win2K3 defaults to 1280x1024 if the card supports it)

*** another option is to use an Xtra (like BuddyAPI or AniRez or a number of others) to resize the user's screen resolution to match what you require for your project, and then have it size it back again when done. With a 1024x768 stage this may be an issue on some old machines that do not support that resolution, but it could fix the problem you have come up against.
