punch a hole...... - Macromedia Freehand

Freehand beginner, hi, using Freehand MX, if for example I have a square, how do I cut a circle out of it? (in fireworks I just lasso it and press delete), on a more complex scale, if I draw a picture and paste it on a background, I then want to rdaw round the edge and cut it out... help would be greatly appreciated, thanks...

    Circle in square

    Draw square.
    Draw circle.
    Select both.
    Choose Modify>Combine>Punch

    Art in circle.

    Draw art.
    Draw circle.
    Select art.
    Edit>Cut.
    Select Circle.
    Edit>Paste inside.

Just as you asked, you "Punch" the hole! Draw the two objects and select
both of them. Go to the Modify menus/Combine/Punch. The hole is cut out and
the entire object becomes a composite path. The split command will separate
the objects again. The join command produces the same "punch" results in
this case. Mess around with it a bit and you'll see. Also, the direct select
cursor will allow you to move each individual object without splitting and
then needed to join or punch again.

I'm not sure what you mean by draw a picture, but if you mean import a
picture, then you would first draw the border shape you want, copy the
picture to your system's clipboard, select the drawn shape, and then use the
paste inside command under the edit menu. That puts the picture inside the
    shape.
