Quark 6.0 > Indesign 3.0

I have already read how to save quark 6.0 files to 4.0 or earlier and Indesign should open it but it seems not to work. First of all QuarkExpress does not give me an option to export older than 5.0 which I did. Than I opened it in Quark Express 5.0 and save as 4.0 but Indesign doesnt seem to like it, or so it wont open it. Has there been any other ways that people have been sucessful in doing this process??

How does InDesign not like it? Can you provide more details in the opening error?

Did you go an extra step and open the Quark 4 file in Quark 4 - - - and then resave as Quark 4? You might be running into trouble by only downsaving to version 4 in Quark 5. See if saving from version 4 from Quark 4 works.

ERROR message ... Indesign not supporting the file format, check for a plug-in and then try re-opening the file...

I only have vers 5.0 and 6.0, no Quark 4.0
I am recieving magazine files because I am taking over the section of laying out the magazine and the person sending them to me has been laying it out in quark 6.0 which our company purchased for him to be compatable with us.

Before saving down to QX 4 make sure that all the XTensions are turned
off and try again.
