Quark 6.5 allows export to PDF without making a postscript file
I'm working in Macintosh OSX with Quark 6.5.
Quark 6.5 has a preference to export pdf by "creating postscript file first" or "direct to pdf".
What is the ramification of "direct to pdf"??? Is there any problem with a pdf that bypasses the postscript stage???

Re: Quark 6.5 allows export to PDF withoutmaking a postscript file
Beachlover, print file to postscript and distill using Acrobat is a much better option from Quark. The Export file uses the JAWS postscript interpreter to create the PDF. All outputs from Quark create postscript first. The create postscript for later distilling from the Export feature has bugs and I would avoid using that altogether (black picture boxes etc) and also turn off the OPI XTension if you don't use it.

Re: Quark 6.5 allows export to PDF withoutmaking a postscript file
Hi beachlover
XPress is ALWAYS generating a PS file, even it is named "direktly to pdf". This is a lie. The integrated JAWS postscript interpreter also only works with PS files. But as Mark mentioned, it is far better to use Acrobat Distiller to create the final PDF.
