    Hey,

    Is it possible to save a Quark 7.0 file in a lower version? (for example 6.5)

    The printing company that does my printing still uses 6.5 because they wait till all the 'bugs' are gone. Their workflow is still based on Quark 6.5 (The same with InDesign - they don't use Creative Suite 2 (Adobe) for the same reason! (too many problems with colour separations etc.)

    Not clear why you would ask this in an Acrobat forum.

    However, the general answer is no: this is Quark's plan for getting
    everyone to upgrade.

    This is of course nonsense. If you simply pick up 2 year old software
    and use it, it hasn't magically fixed whatever bugs were there in the
    first place!

    Ton, can i save Quark 7 down to 6.5? yes Quark has always allowed saving back (to one previous version) it has just adopted Adobe's policy of moving this from a "save as" to "export" that said you have wasted all the new features of XPress like transparentcy, drop shadows unicode text support as all this will be lost in translation. IMO this would be the worst version of Quark for you to do this with as the potential for errors will be huge. I think its time you talked to your printer about moving to a PDF workflow as this would reduce any problems regarding software versions either Adobe or Quark.

    Hi MicheleM

    I still have it on my System

    File->Print

    Push the Button on the bottom "Printer"

    There you have the pulldown menu on the left that lets you save PDF as Postscript - in the case of XPress the PostScript Stream is re directed directly to file.

    Another way:

    Maneuver to the the PDF Setting. There you can define to save the PostScript for later distilling (wonder why they did not name it jawing ;-) ? )
    This way you can select "Export PDF"

    PS: I have a German version of XPress running here so the names listed might be different.
