Quark / Indesign Centring Text Question.
If you know your Indesign as well as you know your Quark you should be able to answer this one. In Quark you can centre a block of text within a box using the “Item > Modify > Text > Centre” options. How do you do this in Indesign? I have only been able to do this using the baseline shift option, which is just not practical.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Quark / Indesign Centring Text Question.
I know my InDesign a whole hell of a lot better than I know Quark!
Are you talking about vertical alignment?
If so, then use Text Frame Options on the Object menu.

Re: Quark / Indesign Centring Text Question.
Dave knows Quark better than he thought. Vertical Alignment is in the Text Frame Options in the Object menu.

Re: Quark / Indesign Centring Text Question.
Thanks, I managed to work it out this morning when I got in work. Can't believe I missed the Text Frame Options menu! I was then going to ask about Runarounds, I'm sure you would of all laughted, but I now realise they are now called Text Wraps in Indesign.
Thanks anyway!

>I'm sure you would of all laughed,
You might be surprised to know that a lot of Quark users are converting and
posting here, and naturally you use the familiar nomenclature. It's no big
deal. And welcome to InDesign!

A lot of questions are answered simply y knowing the correct terminology.
Here are some of the terms that most of my students like to learn:

Picture Usage in Quark is found under Links in InDesign.
Font Usage in Quark is found under Find Font in InDesign.
Runaround in Quark is called Text Wrap in InDesign.
Collect for Output in Quark is called Package in InDesign.
Links in Quark are called Text Threads in InDesign.
Frames in Quark are called Strokes in InDesign.
Auto Text Box in Quark is called Master Text Frame in InDesign.
Invisibles in Quark are called Hidden Characters in InDesign.
Oval boxes in Quark are called Ellipses in InDesign.

Nice little list, Sandee. Welcome back from London. From one rainy climate to another, eh?
