    Default Quark PDF Output

I am creating a pdf workflow at a large format digital printer and through testing of too many pdf specifications, have found that pdf's created from Quark (any version) work error free compared to pdf's of the same specifications made from InDesign and/or Illustrator.

Has any body else seen this? Has anybody else implemented a pdf workflow at a printing shop? Or work in a pdf workflow implemented by someone else?

    Thanks

    Complete opposite.

How do you define problems? Are these using the same source documents?
    Are they colour managed?

PDF's created from InDesign have white boxes around the graphic elements and text boxes when printed. The Quark pdf's are made from Quark either through Distiller or the Quark save as function, both of these pdf's print perfectly.

What do you mean by Color managed? In the file or at a RIP?

And what pdf settings have you seen from InDesign/Illustrator that print without issues? What type of RIP are these going through? What are your color management settings?

    Thanks

Sounds like you're using InDesign with transparency? Tried turning OFF
    the smooth line art option?

You sure you don't have the two page layout applications confused? Since Quark added their poorly implemented version of transparency it's gotten even worse. Any PDF from Quark Xpress will be flattened and any placed bitmap images will have white boxes underneath
them. Most times these white boxes will not even be the correct size or will be slightly out of position making a white line print on the edges of the images. No such issues with InDesign exported PDF's. Complete PDF workflow here, via RAMPage rip.
