File>open.
Note that ID will only open single language Quark XPress version 3.x and
4.x files. Version 5 and 6 files will need to be saved back to 4.x.

Re: Quark to InDesign - from Macintosh to Windows?
If the file was created with any third-party XTensions the person who created would have to save it without XTensions.
Also InDesign CS can open some XPress files which caused a problem in InDesign 2.

Re: Quark to InDesign - from Macintosh to Windows?
If it's a Quark file up to v4 just add the extension .qxd and try to open. It works every time for me.

Re: Quark to InDesign - from Macintosh to Windows?
Good point by Steve.
I'll go so far as to say that the conversion in CS is far superior to
2.0's. I've had files that crash 2.0 that open easily in CS.
