or
<cfset request.qryLdapData = qryLdapData>
(Note:
This cfset creates a reference, not a copy by value. In other words, any
change in one of the queries shows in both because they reference the same
object. To avoid this you'd have to use Duplicate(), but you don't need this
here.)

In fact, <cfset Caller.qryLdapData = qryLdapData> (Caller Scope) also worked.
