question about InDesign - Mac Applications & Software

I am switching from PageMaker to InDesign. I've used PageMaker since its Aldus days and used it for all my text doent needs. But, I'm trying to dump classic in favor of OSX only apps, so I decided to go with InDesign. I'll probably have a bunch of questions in the future, but today I need to know how to do what was called "build booklet" using a plug-in in PageMaker... i.e. re-arranging the page order in preparing to print in various formats such as 2-up saddle stich or perfect bound. How is this done in InDesign. I've been looking ...

I am switching from PageMaker to InDesign. I've used PageMaker
since its Aldus days and used it for all my text doent needs.
But, I'm trying to dump classic in favor of OSX only apps, so I
    decided to go with InDesign.

I'll probably have a bunch of questions in the future, but today
I need to know how to do what was called "build booklet" using a
plug-in in PageMaker... i.e. re-arranging the page order in
preparing to print in various formats such as 2-up saddle stich
    or perfect bound.

How is this done in InDesign. I've been looking thru the docs and
still can't seem to locate it.

    thanks

You need a third-party plug-in, unfortunately. Itıs one of the things I
miss, and it doesnıt look like theyıve added it back into ID3.

Check the third-party plug-ins on the Adobe site:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/indesign/main.html

The one you want is InBooklet 2.1.

    Heron,

If you need various configurations, (more than 2-up, different turning
configurations, etc.) then yes you need to put out $$ for a 3rd party
plug-in. But if you just want to take your reader spreads and create a
basic 2-up printer spread, then you can do it for free. Just install
    this:
    hqx>

You will need to make sure that you have your original InDesign CD in
the drive to install the scripting plug-in if you haven't already.
