AFIAK, there are only three items you can put in the drive bay; a floppy
disk drive, a (6x, 12x or 20x) CDROM, or a VST ZIP drive. All are
usually available on ebay. The 3400/Kanga also has a SCSI port that can
be used for whatever SCSI accessory that you can use; as well as limited
    cardbus support.

A SCSI 4x CD burner is about the best you can hope to successfully use.
I am not aware of a SCSI DVD (but then I haven't been looking either).
    Nice thought, though.

Can the 3400 handle SVCD viewing from CD? Would the 6x or 12x be able to keep up?

Dunno. Never have tried it. I don't have any SVCD's to give it a whirl
with either. Put that on my list of things to do.
