Question about upgrading IDS
Hi all,
I am new in informix database administration. I am currently using IDS 9.21.UC4
on Solaris7. However, it run very unstable, which usually down with assertion
fail, and we are planing to upgrade our server to 9.4x.
Does the upgrade process complicated? Do we need to re-create all table spaces
and tables after upgrade? Thank you.

change INFORMIXDIR to point to the new directory, configure the sqlhosts and
ONCONFIG files in the new $INFORMIXDIR/etc, restart the 9.4 engine. When
the engine realized the reserved pages are for pre-9.4 it will auto
convert all disk structures. That mostly it. There are a couple of
manual conversions you will have to make. See the 9.4 release notes for
details. Nothing big like recreating everything.
